Theme: “Eyes on diabetes”
World Diabetes day was observed at Sembakkam RHTC on November 14th 2016 by the Department of Community Medicine. The session consisted of arole play and a health talk for the benefit of the patients attending the centre. The role play was performed by the interns and highlighted the importance of treatment compliance in the management of diabetes mellitus and the significance of periodic blood sugar estimation. Further, a health talk was given using charts and the beneficiaries were oriented about the symptoms of diabetes, complication of uncontrolled diabetes, and importance of dietary and lifestyle modifications in the care of diabetic patients. The entire session was conducted under the guidance of Dr.Muthukumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine and the Medical Officer. Finally, the program ended with an interactive session, in which Dr.Muthukumar clarified participant’s doubts and queries regarding diabetes.
World Diabetes Day was also observed in Thiruporur UHTC on 14th November by the Department of Community Medicine. A health talk and a role play was organized for the welfare of the patients attending the centre by the CRRIs’ posted in the centre, under the guidance of Dr.Gopinath.T.T, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine and the Medical Officer. In addition, a special screening program for diabetes was conducted, under which five new cases were detected. Simultaneously, health personnel were educated about the necessity to take measures to prevent the onset of diabetes.
